First meeting for the Diversity Charter in Norway

Thursday the 22.September we had our first meeting for the Diversity Charter in Norway, at IMDI in Tollbugata. The topic for the meeting was recruitment.

Present at the meeting were representatives for various organisations, businesses and government bodies including, but not limited to: Aker Solutions, DNBNor, Posten, Norsk Folkehjelp and Kreftforeningen. Claus Jervell, from the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Ombud, opened the meeting and talked about the Duty to promote equality and the Duty to report, in addition to the work and role of the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Ombud.

There were presentations exemplifying the work of Opera Software and Oslo University Hospital in recruiting people with a multicultural background. After these presentations, smaller groups discussed possibilities and challenges when it comes to recruiting for diversity.

Professor of Social Psychology, Gro Mjeldheim Sandal, gave us an interesting insight in how recruitment for diversity works and how different expectations, when it comes to, for instance, the interviewing process, creates unnecessary difficulties

Den 19.mai 2011 inviterte Leadership Foundation og Splint til en felles dag med inspirasjon, innspill og dialog om mangfold på Litteraturhuset. Dette var det første møtet der både medlemsbedrifter og partnere som har signert Diversity Charter møttes til speed-dating med hverandre og til dialog rundt mangfold.

Diversity Charter

The "Diversity Charter" will assist companies and organizations in putting diversity on the strategic agenda while at the same time ensuring one is within the legal requirements with tools, advice, coaching and best practice sharing on the way.  Today the Diversity Charter exists in among other countries France, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Sweden.
